Adalah hosts recent graduates and students from overseas in our offices for legal and human rights advocacy internships each year. Recruitment for 2008
International Media Intern. Seeking an intern to begin from 1 April 2008. The minimum commitment is for one year. Please apply immediately by sending a CV and letter of interest to adalah@adalah.org.
Legal Intern positions. Openings available year-round. The minimum commitment is for three months. For Summer 2008, Adalah can offer two legal internships. International Media Interns
Qualifications
- An advanced masters’ degree student or MA in a relevant field.
- A minimum of two years of work experience in journalism or media work.
- Excellent, native level English writing and editing skills.
- Knowledge of multimedia website design and creative uses of the internet for advocacy purposes.
- A demonstrated commitment to human rights.
- Knowledge of Middle Eastern affairs and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
- A minimum commitment of one year.
- Arabic or Hebrew language skills are very helpful.
International media interns contribute to all aspects of our work before the international media. Duties include: writing, editing and sending press releases and briefing papers about Adalah’s casework to the international media, maintaining and building contacts with journalists, helping to develop Adalah’s international media strategies and contributing to the content and design of our website. Adalah provides a stipend for living expenses, health insurance, and transportation to the office.
Legal Interns
Qualifications
- Law students must have completed at least one year of law school in order to apply. Law school graduates and practicing lawyers preferred.
- Excellent English writing and legal research abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to human rights.
- Knowledge of Middle Eastern affairs and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
- Computer literacy including database research on Lexis/Nexis, Westlaw, etc.
- Arabic or Hebrew language skills are helpful.
- Three-month minimum commitment.
Interns gain practical experience in legal research and writing, as well as specialized knowledge of the legal status of Palestinians in Israel and the OPT. Interns conduct comparative constitutional, administrative, and international human rights and humanitarian law research for Adalah’s petitions to the Israeli courts, international advocacy reports, and Adalah’s publications.
No stipend is available for legal interns. Legal interns should obtain grants through their law firms, law schools or other sources. Adalah provides health insurance and transportation to the office.
