Press Conference: Responses to the Or Commission of Inquiry Final Report Monday 1 September 2003, 14:30, Bet Agron, Jerusalem On Monday, 1 September 2003, the official Commission of Inquiry into the October 2000 protest demonstrations ("Or Commission") will issue its final conclusions and recommendations. This report marks the culmination of the Or Commission's two-year investigation into the October 2000 demonstrations, which resulted in the killing of 13 unarmed Palestinian citizens of Israel and the injury of hundreds of others by the police. In February 2002, the Or Commission issued 14 letters of warning, advising each of their recipients that they are likely to be harmed by the inquiry or its results. Recipients of the letters of warning include: former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former Minister of Internal Security Shlomo Ben Ami, and high-ranking police commanders, as well as Arab public representatives, Members of Knesset (MKs) Azmi Bishara and 'Abd al-Malek Dahamshe and the head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, Sheikh Ra'ed Salah. The Or Commission's final report will present conclusions and recommendations regarding the responsibility of each of the "warnees" for the events of October 2000. Representatives of the Arab victims' families, the High Follow-up Committee for the Arab Citizens of Israel, MK Bishara, MK Dahamshe, a spokesperson for Sheikh Ra'ed Salah, and Adalah will hold a joint press conference to provide commentary, analysis, and opinion in response to the Or Commission report.
