Scholarship for Master’s Degree (LLM) for Arab Lawyers

Adalah: The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel announces the formation of a Scholarship Nomination Committee, which is seeking candidates for the Open Society Justice Initiative Fellows Program at the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary for 2007-2009. The two-year fully-funded program in English includes one year of study for an LLM in Human Rights at the CEU, and a second year of work as an attorney with Adalah.

Qualifications:
• Law degree (LLB) with excellent grades
• Member of the Israel Bar
• Strong commitment to human rights and leadership potential
• High degree of proficiency in English.

• Prof. Marwan Dwairy | Chairperson, Board of Directors of Adalah. Psychotherapist.
• Prof. Muhammad M. Haj-Yahia | Member, Board of Directors of Adalah. Associate Professor of Social Work and Social Welfare, Hebrew University.
• Dr. Mahmoud Yazbak | Member, Board of Directors of Adalah. Senior Lecturer, Middle East History, Haifa University.
• Hala Khoury, Advocate | General Assembly Member, Adalah. PhD candidate in International Law, Oxford University, England.
• Hassan Jabareen, Advocate | General Director of Adalah.

Process:
• Submit CV and short letter of interest via email (adalah@adalah.org) and fax (04-950-3140) to Adalah’s Scholarship Nomination Committee by Sunday 10 December 2006. Suitable candidates will be called to interview with Adalah’s Committee

• Suitable candidates will be called to interview with Adalah’s Committee.

• Adalah’s Committee will choose two candidates to nominate for the CEU program. Adalah will notify successful candidates by Monday 20 November, and provide letters of nomination.

• The candidates must then apply to the CEU by 5 January 2007. The candidates must meet all of the requirements for general admission to the CEU and the CEU Legal Studies Department (e.g., score of 570 on TOEFL English exam, legal reasoning exam, academic essay, etc.) See: www.ceu.hu/admissions.html and www.ceu.hu/legal/admissions.html
