Dear Friends,
2013 proved a challenging year for defenders of human rights in Israel. Knesset members introduced new discriminatory and anti-democratic legislation, Palestinian families continued to be divided by the law banning family unification law for a tenth year, and the most vulnerable were hit by child allowance cuts. Adalah also spent much of the year working to halt the government’s efforts to destroy dozens of unrecognized Bedouin villages through the Prawer Plan. We also represented demonstrators arrested during protests against the forced displacement of the Bedouin in court.

As we approach the New Year, Adalah needs your support to continue to defend threatened Bedouin communities by:
STOPPING THE PRAWER PLAN
The Prawer Plan is being pushed through the Knesset with the backing of the government, despite the Bedouin community’s clear opposition. Adalah will continue working to stop the demolition of Bedouin villages, to secure the just resolution of land claims, and to advocate for improved living conditions in existing Bedouin villages. See New York Times coverage.
DEFENDING FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
Dozens of peaceful demonstrators have been injured, arrested and criminally charged in an attempt by police to crack down on popular opposition to the Prawer Plan. It is the latest example of police brutality against Palestinian citizens of Israel who insist on exercising their basic freedoms of expression. Adalah will continue to provide legal representation to detained demonstrators and to demand accountability in cases of police violence.

Please help us to pursue our mission to defend rights and secure justice for Palestinians in Israel and in the OPT in 2014 and beyond by making a significant gift this holiday season.
Stand with Adalah, Stand for Justice.
