November 2017
International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

The faces behind the cases
Dear Friends,

On 29 November each year, we observe the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, declared by the UN General Assembly in 1977. And solidarity with the Palestinian people is needed now more than ever.
Click on the below photos to learn first-hand from the people most directly impacted by Israel’s policies, a new Adalah project.
In 2017, Israel’s parliament continued to promote new discriminatory and anti-democratic legislation that threatens land use and ownership, freedom of expression, and civil and political rights. And we’ve witnessed a further erosion of the rule of law: state institutions are taking actions without any legal authority. The Knesset legislated issues of settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) over which it has no jurisdiction; the Israel Prison Service prohibited lawyers from visiting prisoners on hunger-strike despite their fundamental right to counsel; and police illegally held bodies Palestinians killed by Israeli security forces, in violation of the right to dignity.

Israel also continued with its racist plans to uproot Bedouin communities in the Naqab (Negev) desert – using methods similar to those used in East Jerusalem and the West Bank – for the sole benefit of Israeli Jewish families. Adalah represented Palestinian families and communities in Israel and the OPT, fighting against these laws, policies, and practices.

As we approach 2018, Adalah needs your support to challenge the most pressing concerns:
  • Revocation of citizenship and residency as a punitive measure
  • Forced displacement
  • Settlements and the proposed "annexation laws"
  • Lack of accountability for killing and wounding of Palestinians
  • Cuts to social benefits and healthcare services, and obstacles to access to education for the most vulnerable children
This Giving Tuesday, please stand in solidarity and make a significant contribution to help us to promote and defend the human rights of Palestinians in Israel and in the OPT. As Israel continues to impose greater restrictions on human rights defenders fighting to end the occupation and for full equality and a state for all of its citizens, your contribution during this holiday season is more important than ever.

Stand with Adalah, Stand for Justice
