Adalah: Israeli drone attack that killed four Gaza boys demonstrates criminal reckless disregard for human life

Military testimonies received by Adalah shed light on 2014 attack that killed Bakr siblings on Gaza beach; AG's failure to respond shows Israeli investigation mechanism ineffective remedy for victims.

Adalah General Director Hassan Jabareen issued a statement on Monday, 13 August 2018, regarding the Israeli military’s armed drone attack that killed four young Palestinian boys playing on a Gaza beach in 2014:

“Adalah appealed to the Israeli attorney general to open a criminal investigation and to reject the closure of the military’s probe as the testimonies of the Israeli soldiers involved in this deadly attack clearly show criminal reckless disregard for human life. The testimonies provided by eyewitnesses that Adalah submitted to the Israeli attorney general also demonstrate that the killings were illegal. We demanded that the Israeli attorney general reopen the file and launch a criminal investigation based on both Israeli criminal code and international humanitarian law. The fact that the attorney general has still not responded to our appeal of August 2015 is very problematic as it shows that the Israeli internal investigation mechanism cannot provide an effective remedy for the victims.”
